We've stayed at Papakea many times. This has to be a top three unit. Very clean and well maintained. Quam properties has amazing service. We added a late check out. When I requested online, they promptly called to extend and gave clear instructions for updating keys, etc. Will definitely look to stay in this unit again.

Ground floor was great too- easy access to the pool and all the other resort amenities. There’s no beach at Papakea is the only downside, but there are loungers at the sea wall to watch the ocean. This is a ground-level unit, which was great for our family. The kids liked to step outside to go to the pool or the putting green just outside and they could do that easily. This is a great condo in a wonderful, family friendly and laid back complex. This condo is ground floor in the third building back from the ocean and looks out onto the pretty Koi ponds and pool. The condo is well maintained with newer appliances and the kitchen has everything you might need to cook and BBQ. There is also a cooler, tons of beach towels and four beach chairs and sporting goods and various fins/snorkels/etc left from previous folks.the beds and showers are good and the mini-split AC in the living room works well to cool down the living room and master bedroom at night when you have to close the lanai door (since it's a ground floor unit you can't really leave doors open). The back bedroom can get a bit warm (we stayed in winter when it's still cool at night) especially if you close the door. we had four adults (all family) staying and we did not feel crowded - lots of space for all, especially since you can just hang out outside or walk down to the waterfront if you need space, lol!The complex has lots to do if you want a "stay at home" day - shuffleboard, putting green, pickleball courts, etc. Being super close to the ABC store and the food trucks made life easy. There's coffee places within an easy walk and a great cinnamon roll place as well. And it's an easy drive to good beaches and snorkeling areas.We have stayed at this resort many times and this is one of the nicest condos we have stayed in there. Can't wait to come back to Maui soon! Mahalo

This 2-bedroom condo was perfect for our family with two pre-schoolers. We were at ground level, so we could quickly step out onto the Papa Kea grounds and play with the kids. The pool and grills are close by. The resort also includes tennis courts, pickle ball courts and a little putting green area. It was so relaxing. Our condo had a large master bedroom, a nicely stocked kitchen and a living area with plenty of room. Date of arrival - January 29, 2024

We had a great stay at this condo. The unit is very comfortable and has a nice patio and good view of the koi pond/garden. It was nice to be on the ground floor so our kids could just go in and out to the courtyard or pool. Comfortable beds and furniture, and a functional kitchen. The complex is awesome, with two great pools, a beautiful location right on the water, walking access to an excellent sandy beach (south), and central to good beaches for snorkeling/swimming. This place is AMAZING, even better than the pictures! The views of the ocean are spectacular—whales jumping out of the water right in front of us. Great little beach down to the left. Closet filled with beach gear (puddle jumpers, lawn chairs, nets, boogie boards, masks and snorkels, fins, umbrella), which was fantastic. Very well equipped kitchen, even had a cheese grater! Grills were spotless. Grocery store right across the street. Slappy Cakes was great for breakfast and the food trucks for dinner on the rare night we didn’t cook. My kids refused to leave the resort, so I can’t say much about the rest of the island… We had a great time!

I wish I could give J102 6 stars. Our family had the best time and could not have loved this property more. We loved the first floor location being right next to the pool, shuffleboard and putting green. It was one of the few that had a queen and a twin rather than two kings which was perfect with our three kids. The condo had everything we could have needed and more. The owner provided so many thoughtful touches that we ended up really overpacking. The people on property were so kind and responsive. This does not have a direct beach access, but it's about a two minute walk next door. Due to this I felt like Papakea was less of a spring break vibe which we loved. There were always grills available and the pool wasn't too crowded. We absolutely loved this place and hope to come back soon.

This was such a great place to stay at especially when having little kids. The community offers pools and ocean access, small beaches close by and the property management was super helpful and nice. The apartment itself was super clean, spacious and had everything you needed. Even snorkeling gear, beach towels and beach chairs that we used daily. The grounds of the property were beautiful, and we enjoyed the tennis and pickle ball courts, pool and hot tub. The location was also great as we could walk to the grocery store and restaurants. Amazing location. Ground floor, walk out from your lanai to the putting green and only 30 more feet to the pool. Can hear the ocean from this unit, very peaceful. We saw multiple whales from the grass area right by the ocean (it was whale season, March). Looks like a recent remodel, new cabinets, countertops, appliances (Bosch dishwasher and washer/dryer), dishes, etc. Mini split worked very well. Great supplies for beach included, cooler, chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear Unit was very clean, plenty of towels for beach and bath/showers. Weber Genesis grills surround the pool, maybe 6 or 7, great feature. There is a reason this place is booked out months out, if you book you will not be disappointed

Ground floor access and veranda serene with the practice putting greens and koi pond. 2 pools on property did not use. Pools better for kids. Moped and scooter rentals at doorstep. Amazing seafood takeout at good value within 1 block. Food trucks close by Couldn’t figure the fan in second bedroom. Great to have washer and dryer in unit but small capacity. Waterfront. Condo #J102 in Papakea resort is terrific. It was very clean and decorated in a cozy manner. The view of the garden and waterfalls outside the patio is beautiful. I traveled with my daughter and friends. We spent most days at either the pool or on the lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. We saw whales every day. It has a fantastic view. This was the first Maui vacation that my family got to experience. It was absolutely amazing! Even more so, was our vacation rental. Our place was in a perfect location close to the beaches, convenience stores, food trucks and clinics. Our place was spacious and clean and had all the supplies and utensils needed as well as items for the beach. It was really a home away from home. The condo was clean and the management company was really prompt answering my questions during our stay. The location on the property was convenient to the pool without being so close that you were disturbed by any noise there. The grounds were really well maintained and having both the grocery store and a food truck pod out on the main road was convenient. Some guests renting a nearby unit said ours was much nicer than theirs and I would definitely recommend staying here for friends looking for a west Maui spot. Date of arrival - October 5, 2021

We stayed in a first floor condo near the swimming pool/ocean and could not have been happier. The resort is very clean and well maintained, and they have lots of fun activities. There is no beach to speak of on the resort proper, but it is a 5 minute walk along its stone seawall to Kaanapali beach where there is plenty of sand to relax on, at least at lower tides. There is an ABC store, plus a very good supermarket and other services within walking distance of the property. The grills are plentiful and in good working order, so we cooked most of our meals by the pool. Would definitely recommend this place or come again. Short walk to the pool and a view of the ocean

My family and my parents stayed at this property. It was essential to have a ground floor condo for my parents due to their more limited mobility. My sister and her family stayed in a different ground floor unit close by and it was great for the kids to be able shuttle between units independently. Our unit was the more popular of the two units--perhaps because of the fact that my parents were at our unit; however, our condo was well equipped which made meals easier. During COVID restrictions, it was also essential key to have a kitchen. Popular restaurants are often booked up--even for takeout. Another option for dining (dinner only) is the food trucks that are stationed a couple blocks away (walkable). The lone downside with the location is that while a view of the ocean is a short walk away, the beach is a bit farther. We found ourselves driving to the beach many times; however, this is not a huge detraction because there is beach access parking. The beds were comfortable as was the condo. Our particular unit, J102, had a great morning view of the putting green and pond just in front of the patio. It was also a short walk to the pool and a view of the ocean. At the pool, there were BBQs (which we used once), and there was never an issue with regards to grill availability. The condo was clean. We never had an issue with parking. Check-in and check-out did not have any issues. We used the Papakea Resort business office (located in the back of the building of the office where check-in is located) to print out boarding passes and luggage tags. The concierge had some helpful tips. Should also note that many people staying here took advantage of the tennis and pickleball courts. Papakea had many folks staying here, but it never felt crowded like at the hotels on the beach The owners property management group, Quam Properties, were quite responsive. After I bought ingredients to make smoothies, I found out that the blender did not have a pour spout cap. I contacted Quam and they replaced the blender within a day. Overall, I would recommend this unit--and especially if you need a ground floor unit for folks with limited mobility. Mahalo to the owners for a great stay! Date of arrival - July 31, 2021

This was a very nice updated unit. Unit is just like the pictures. On the ground floor right near the putting green. They have boogie boards and golf clubs which was great. Kitchen is well stocked. Papakea is a low density beautiful complex right on the ocean.
