Watersports Journey To Maui

When you think of a vacation to Maui, you can’t help but think of the Pacific Ocean and all the fun and adventure its waters have to offer. Maui is a place where surfers flock to ride the challenging waves and scuba divers come to explore the mysteries of the coral reef. The sport of kitesurfing was invented on Maui and surfing itself was invented by ancient Hawaiians. Spring and summer are the best times to enjoy Maiu water sports, and instructors and guides are never hard to find.

Surfing- Maui Water Sports

One of our super popular Maui water activities is surfing. If you are new to it, one of the best places to learn is the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy. They will start you out at Lahaina Harbor right near the breakwater where you will enjoy calm waters as you learn how to lift and balance yourself on a board. The staff here is comprised of life-long surfers. Classes last two hours and are only $75.00.

If you are a more experienced surfer, you may want to try Ho’okipa Beach, which is a popular surfing spot on the island. If you are an expert surfer, you can brave the high waves and long rides of Honolua Bay.

Scuba Diving

Dive Maui has very experienced and patient scuba diving instructors who know the island well.  They can teach you how to dive and certify you as a scuba diver. Learning to dive is not so inexpensive, as a lesson with certification will cost you $599.00. If you are already an experienced diver, they will be happy to take you out for the day. Diving tours go from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm. A tour costs $139.00 and includes two dives, lunch, and two drinks. This is one of the most popular Maui water activities among tourists!

Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding makes you feel like you are a bird flying high above the water. The kiteboarding pros at Kite HI live to kiteboard and want to show you what you have been missing with a lesson. A private lesson last three hours and costs $299.00. The emphasis is on safety at this school, and you will not only learn how to board, but how you can get out of trouble if any should arise.
