Why Wet Season Is the Best Time for Waterfalls
If you are planning a waterfall adventure, the best time to go to Maui, Hawaii, is during the wet season. Maui’s rainy season is from November through March, and all the rain “plumps” up the waterfalls, creating even more dramatic views. During the drier seasons, many of our waterfalls will dry to just a trickle, and although still beautiful, it does not compare to the raging water tumbling over rocks and cliffs with all the force of Mother Nature.
Best Time for Beach-Specific Conditions
It may not surprise you to realize that every season is the best time to visit Maui when you want to spend all your days at the beach. Summers are perfect, of course, but there will be more crowds and higher prices. Winter is cooler, but you will have the chance to see migrating humpback whales, and the water is still warm enough for swimming. During the shoulder seasons (May, September, October), prices drop, the crowds lessen, and the beaches are wide open.
Best Time to See Sea Turtles
Sea turtles are active year-round, so anytime is the best time to go to Maui to see the sea turtles. The best times of day to see them, however, are early morning or late afternoon. Just stay a respectful distance away.
