About The Sacred Garden of Maliko
The Sacred Garden of Maliko is nestled at the bottom of Maliko Gulch, a geological feature that runs from the upper slopes of Haleakala to the ocean. The garden was formed with the goals of imparting peace, inspiration, creativity, and beauty to those who visit. Onsite you will find not only a vibrant botanical garden, but also a nursery, a peace sanctuary, a retreat center, a school, a creativity center, and a temple.
An assortment of orchids, tropical plants, succulents, water plants, palms, and anthuriums are on display in The Sacred Garden of Maliko, of which partially is housed within a 10,000 square foot greenhouse. Picnic or sitting areas are situated throughout, providing spots to relax in this peaceful setting. Two labyrinths offer contemplative paths that are said to promote respite and stress reduction. It’s definitely one of the best Maui gardens to visit.
Large statues, two of which include Buddha and a “Mother Shrine,” are located throughout the garden, although visitors from all religions and beliefs are welcome.

The Sacred Garden of Maliko is located in northern Maui approximately 20 minutes east of Kahului in the town of Makawao at 460 Kaluanui Rd. On road and off-road parking is available. The Sacred Garden is open daily and is free of charge, although donations are welcomed. Complimentary tea, hot chocolate and water are available, and you are welcome to bring your own food to enjoy at one of the picnic areas throughout the garden.
