You’re likely coming to Maui at least in part to experience its beautiful beaches, and at Kama’ole Beach Park, you can experience them in a triple dose. This Hawaii park located in Kihei is actually a string of three beautiful golden sand beaches, commonly referred to as Kam I, Kam II, and Kam III.
The sequence of beaches at Kama’ole Beach Park are approximately one mile each, resulting in several miles of golden sand separated only by rocky outcroppings at either end. Walkers or joggers may enjoy a beachfront excursion down the coastline of all three beaches, as it is possible to cross over the outcroppings. Views of Molokini, Kaho’olawe and Lana’i Islands make this a picturesque place to enjoy a stroll.
Typically calm waters make the beaches at this Hawaii park ideal for swimming. Snorkeling is also good here, where you can swim among parrotfish, butterflyfish, and green sea turtles. In general, snorkeling is best around rocky areas, which are at the ends of these beaches. The north end of Kam I offers the best snorkeling of the three beaches. This end of the beach can also offer more solitude than the south end and the more popular Kam III.
If you’re hoping to catch some waves, grab your boogie board and head to Kam III. The regular break here makes this beach popular for boogie boarders and body surfers. Keep an eye out for the rocks that protrude from the water.
